SAFETY & REPLACEMENT
Tyre Age & Expiry Date South Africa
Learn how tyre age is assessed, how the manufacturing date is read and why condition inspection still matters even when tread remains.
Safety note: tyre fitment and safety decisions depend on the exact vehicle, tyre specification and physical condition. These pages are educational guides, not a remote roadworthiness inspection.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Tyre Age & Expiry Date South Africa FAQs
Can I decide tyre safety from tread depth alone?
No. Tread is important, but age, sidewall condition, impact damage, repairs, pressure history and uneven wear can also affect whether a tyre should remain in service.
Can Top Point inspect my tyres?
Yes. Top Point can inspect tyre condition and related wheel, alignment and suspension factors at the Turffontein workshop.
Should I use the legal minimum as my replacement target?
A legal threshold is not automatically an ideal safety target for every driving condition. Replace or inspect earlier when condition, damage or performance justifies it.
Workshop location: Top Point Fitment Center currently operates from 112 Turf Club Street, Turffontein, Johannesburg South. National tyre guides are research resources and do not represent branches elsewhere in South Africa.
